Five years ago today, Brad Neuberg first wrote about the idea of coworking and inspired the future of work. In Reno, it took two years to find the space, the money and execute the plan, but on January 1st, 2010, Reno Collective Coworking opened at 250 Bell Street in downtown Reno. Now after 8 months, Reno Collective is home to over 15 entrepreneurs, small business owners and freelancers including Think KindnessSocial Chorus, David Calvert Photography, Lively Labs, Reno Passport and satellite offices of Fuze and Apex Performance Solutions.

    Already heard of coworking?
If you’ve already heard about coworking, or Reno Collective specifically, let us know in the comments where you first heard about the movement.

    Want to learn more?
We’re offering free drop-ins this week (Aug 9 – Aug 13) for anyone who wants to come check out the space and get some work done. It’s an inspiring and motivating place to work with wifi, printers and coffee brewed daily from The Hub Coffee Company. If you have any questions, you can reach us by phone: 775.393.9650, Twitter: @renocollective, Facebook or email: colin@renocollective.com.

We’ve got a couple events this week that we want to keep you updated on. We encourage you to come out and be a part of what’s going on in Reno- our community is our greatest asset!

NCET’s Tech Wednesday on February 10

NCET Tech WednesdayNevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology will be hosting their monthly networking event, Tech Wednesday, here at the Collective this week!

Meet new people & mingle with the local tech and entrepreneur communities, plus check out our snazzy digs.

The event will run from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at our facility located at 250 Bell St, and tickets cost $15 in advance or $25 at the door. RSVPs are being handled via Facebook.

Lunch 2.0 at the Amendment 21 on February 11

Join us on Thursday, Feb 11th for the latest Lunch 2.0 event! Lunch 2.0 is a new way to meet other professionals outside the usual stuffy atmosphere you find at traditional “networking events,” and hopefully inspire more collaboration within the professional and tech community here in Reno.

This Lunch 2.0, hosted by Colin and me will feature some sneak peeks of upcoming technology and creativity-focuses events coming to Reno, including the Nevada Interactive Summit and Reno Collective’s weekly Creative Buzz!

As usual, don’t just sit and listen- the point to lunch 2.0 is to get everyone out of our cubicles and face to face over a great meal and great conversations.

As with Tech Wednesday, RSVPs for Lunch 2.0 are being handled by Facebook.

Valentines Vampire Crawl on February 13

As if those two events weren’t enough, the Reno Collective is a sponsor in the second annual Valentine’s Vampire Bar Crawl.

The Crawl, starting at 8pm at the Amendment 21 and consisting of 14 of Reno’s finest and most fun drinking establishments, features $2-$3 drink specials and costs only $5.

Proceeds from the crawl’s VIP party will go towards the Go Red for Women division of the American Heart Association.

Participants are encouraged to dress as vampires, vampire victims, vampire hunters, or whatever they think goes with them!

We woke up this morning to a feature article in the Reno News & Review! The local Reno media have really been good to us- the Rn&R has been continually in contact with us, waiting for us to open so that they could send a team to cover our space, and what a job they did!

So, go check it out and read about Colin’s “unforgettable red hair” and my mustache. Plus they totally get what we’re accomplishing here! Thanks, RN&R and thanks Clarissa & Dana!
